Kassol [26.10.2010-02.11.2010]

Estado: Himachal Pradesh

State: Himachal Pradesh

Kassol had beenrecommended by some travellers and by Rachel in Bir. In order to reach Kassol, I had to spend a night in Bhuntar, just like Gabi would do the next day. The worst hostel in the world. The toilettes leave the worst toilet in Scotland (Trainspoting movie) as high a high luxury. The staff, a 18 yo boy, is totally disrespectful. He entered my room witt out even knocking and later brought his friends, just before I kicked them out. Kassol lies in Parvatey Valley. This valley, named after Shiva's consort, is famous for being the main cannnabis producer in India. It´s production and consumption are permitted, being an ancient and traditional custom. In some locations in Rajastan even opium is permitted (there was one evening tours to see the ritual). the valley is mind-blowing. The small window in my shower frames the snowy Himalayas. Travellers that went years before describe it as a lost place where there are no tourists, no toilets (go to behind the bushes) and authentic. But after the passage of thousands of israelis, the place is burned out. When I arrived the season was coming to an end and it was quite empty of people. But the isreali flow has left its footprints everywhere: half of the banners are in hebrew, there are isreali restaurants and the first hostel I ran into betrayed its activities (or its lack of): dozens of pipes and other instruments blossomed on the windows. In Kassol I would have my first contact with isrealies in India.
In Kassol I met again Gabi, friend fom Barcelona. Another guy who I made him fall into Risk (in itineris I´ve got it as a videogame).
