Las vacas campan a sus anchas por las calles indias, aunque en la ciudad se limitan a las areas un poco más sucias y con menos tráfico (como Pahar Ganj). Pero no son consideradas animal sagrado. Se las respeta como ser vivo y no está bien visto pegarles golpes para desplazarlas. Se las respeta más todavía por lo que dan al pueblo. De la leche hacen su queso paneer; de las heces abono, material de construcción, desinfectante; de la orina no me acuerdo que hacen*. Todas las vacas tienen dueño, no son libres del todo. Pero la forma de explotarlas es mucho más natural: por la mañana son ordeñadas, por la tarde son libres para pasear y comer lo que se encuentren y por la noche vuelven a su sitio (ya sea refugio o sitio en la calle) donde les espera la comida que les da el dueño. En Dandi, se les da caña de azúcar.

Cows walk on the street at their free will in India, however in the city they are just in the dirtier, less traffic intensive areas (like Pahar Ganj). But they are not thought as holy animals. They are repected as living beings and it’s not right to hit them to set them aside. They are even more respected because of what they give to the people. From the milk they make Paneer cheese; from the feces, fertilizer, contruction material, disinfectant; from orina I don't remeber what they make**. All cows have an owner, they are not that free. But the exploting form is much more natural: in the morning they are milked, in the evening they are free to wander and eat what they find and at night they come back to their place (in a shelter or in the street) where they are fed by the owner. In Dandi, they are given sugarcane.
